This exquisite award winning home is located 28 kilometres south of Sydney, in a suburb called Sandy Point. The home is in an envious position, perched upon the banks of the tranquil George’s River. The location of this home allowed the builder many opportunities to engage with the natural surroundings and focus on the green aspects of the design. Construction company, Everyday Homes, designed and built the home to a strict brief. The home was to consider environmental features such as low e-gass and recycled water. Important to the design was that the home needed to have an outstanding relationship between the indoor and outdoor spaces and allow them fade into one.
Plans for the home were extravagant, there were many visual elements in the design that give the home an interesting and exciting ambience and bring the outdoors into the home. Due to the size and quantity of the windows and doors the builders required a product that was durable and stylish as well as a fabricator with experience and quality workmanship. Vista Windows were identified as a suitable fabricator for the job as they have an impeccable reputation of providing quality products in a timely manner.
Due to the scale of the project Vista worked closely with engineers during the duration of the build to ensure the large panels of aluminium windows and doors were supported correctly. Vista utilised their industry experience when fitting the large windows and doors. Despite the project brief being that the indoors and outdoors had to form one, as the home is located on a public river, Vista and builders alike realised that exposure should be particular. Everyday Homes and Vista Windows worked closely together to ensure builders ideas and designs were implemented through the windows and doors.
Vista suggested the use of Elevate™ Aluminium Systems throughout the home. The commercial grade aluminium windows and doors were chosen because they can be double glazed which enabled the home to be protected against the river-side elements. A variety of systems were used in this project to ensure each aluminium window and door suited the design of the room. Series 411 ViewMASTER™ Bi-Fold doors and Series 704 SlideMASTER™ Sliding Doors were used in living areas to open the space to the outdoors. Series 466 auto-awnings were used due to their sleek, modern appearance. Louvres were also used in the project as they allow for maximum ventilation which is a bonus is summer months.
Upon the completion of the project, builders were extremely pleased with Vista Windows’ service and continually reiterated the fact that Vista’s ability to custom make windows and doors to suit each particular project was extremely helpful. The entire project has been commended on the design, build, finishes and materials included throughout. The home has won several awards including the 2011 HIA Home of the Year award.
